Soul of Mexico

The Lua Family migrated from Jiquilpan, Michocan Mexico a place often referred to as the Soul of Mexico or Alma de Mexico. Our parents came to this country for hopes of a better life for their six children including five boys and one girl (Lupita, Francisco, Jesus, Juan Luis, Eduardo, and Jose). 

Through hard work and dedication the family would soon realize their dream of owning a restaurant.

Our family has a combined experience of about 50 years of working in the service & restaurant industry.  Our mother, Teresa enjoyed a 20 year long career working as a chef most recently at the Esmeralda Resort.

Our mother’s love for the culinary arts has passed on her original family recipes and her own special touch to assure the traditional flavor would be enjoyed by family and friends.

In 2007, Soul of Mexico celebrated their Grand Opening at the Heritage Court Shopping Center in Indio, CA.
